The founder of Sellerise is an 8-figure Amazon seller.
So when he builds a custom keyword tool, pay attention.
The setup of his tool reveals how successful sellers think about keyword research.
One thing their Keyword Hunter Pro tool emphasizes is identifying and targeting keywords with the highest CVR.
Here’s why this matters…
The old way of doing keyword research is identifying keywords with:
With this method, if multiple keywords seemed equally relevant, then we’d prioritize the one with the most search volume.
But that’s NOT the best way to rank the importance of keywords.
For example, let’s say you’re selling red socks and see this keyword data:
- Red socks for men - 1000 searches
- Men’s red socks - 800 searches
Both keywords seem equally relevant, so we’d place a higher priority on ‘red socks for men’ since its search volume is higher.
But the story changes when we add in the CVR data:
- Red socks for men - 1000 searches - 8% CVR = 80 sales
- Men’s red socks - 800 searches - 12% CVR = 96 sales
Even though men’s red socks have fewer searches, the people who search it have a higher purchase intent and buy more.
Given this data, “men’s red socks” is the better keyword to prioritize in your listing title, bullet points, and PPC campaign.
Move beyond just relevancy and volume.
Target keywords that generate the most sales.
