I watched 38 YouTube videos this week about Amazon trends and what's actually working for sellers - so you don't have to.
Here's what stood out:
- Why SellerSprite is a hidden gem
- How Amazon could be burning your ad budget
- A new Google plugin I'm using to judge competitors
Plus other cool Amazon tips.

Notes on Amazon
📝 SellerSprite Ad's Spy tool shows competitors % traffic by keyword
Ad spy tools don’t usually show PPC keyword weight. Seller Sprite shows % of traffic by keyword, ad vs. organic, for every listing.
You’ll know exactly where their sales come from - and how hard they’re pushing. Helps you budget your own ad launch. It’s a smarter pre-launch playbook.
📝 Amazon will burn your ad budget if you let them
Amazon quietly launched a new campaign setting that burns your ad budget on off-Amazon placements. It's buried under Sponsored Product > Settings.
Default is "maximize reach" which means Amazon spends aggressively outside the marketplace. Most of these placements don't convert. Switch it to "minimize spend" now.
Want to see how much you’re bleeding on off-Amazon ads? Go to Reports > Sponsored Products > Placements. Run it for 60 days, sort by spend, filter for “off-Amazon." If the numbers look bad, go back to the campaign and change it to "minimize spend" now. Easy win.
📝 The #1 goal of Amazon ads is to push organic rank, not sales
Most brands treat Amazon ads like a slot machine. They put in a dollar and want two back. But ads should feed your SEO. Drive conversions to rank organically. Organic velocity = margin growth. Ignore that and you’re just renting traffic. Own your placement or keep burning spend.
📝 A new Google plugin I'm using
I judge how "SEO savvy" my competitors are by if they have IMG alt text. If I see they have a good listing but don't have IMG alt text, then I know they're good but not great.
Usually, to see IMG alt text you'd have to right click, click "Inspect", highlight over the image, and read through a jumble of code-looking text.
But with the IMG alt text viewer, it will load the backend text on each image so you can quickly see without the click acrobats.
